A Bad Cat Moves to New Jersey

Transcript of “A Bad Cat Moves to New Jersey”

Walu was a wild, crazy cat, and sometimes he liked to be bad.
His friend, Sakana, was a good, quiet fish.
They lived in Osaka with their owner, Tachibana.

They were all at the airport because Tachibana got a new job and they were moving to New Jersey.

Tachibana decided to put Walu in his suitcase with Sakana, because he was such a wild and crazy cat.  He thought Sakana would keep Walu company so he wouldn’t get lonely.

When they got on the plane, Tachibana put his suitcase in the overhead bin and the plane took off.

Everything was OK until dinner time.  While Tachibana was eating, Walu began to scratch on the suitcase.  He hated the dark, and he wanted to get out of that dark suitcase.

Suddenly Sakana said,  (in Japanese)  “Stop! No! No! No!”
Wala answered, (in Japanese)  “I hate the dark! Come with me!  I promise I won’t eat you.”
Sakana cried, (in Japanese) “OK!  Open your mouth, and I’ll jump in!”
As the plan was landing, Tachibana stood up and opened the bin to get his suitcase.

Suddenly, Wala jumped out and started running all over the plane.
Everyone tried to catch him, but they couldn’t.

Walu ran into the pilot’s cabin and by accident pushed the emergency exit slide button.  The slide came out and Walu could hear the  passengers yelling, “Catch the cat!”

He ran through the plane and threw himself on the slide.  Down he flew, right into a big pile of snow.  It was the first time for him to see snow!

(in Japanese) “Is this ice cream town?  I HATE the cold!” thought Walu. He was shaking and icicles were hanging from his whiskers.

Suddenly, Walu heard, (in Japanese) “Walu!  Your favorite food!”  It was Tachibana.  He was standing in the door of the plane with a bowl of Walu’s favorite cat food, Tuna.
“Tuna! Tuna! Tuna!”  cried Walu as he ran back up the slide.  (in Japanese) “It may be a trap!”  whispered Sakana.  (in Japanese) “I don’t care.  I LOVE tuna!” answered Walu.

Just as Walu reached the top of the slide and started eating, Tachibana grabbed him and started scolding him.  He said, (in Japanese) “Bad cat!  NO MORE SCRATCHING!”    Walu answered (in Japanese) “Take me back to Osaka where it’s warm.  Then I will stop scratching.”  Tachibana said, (in Japanese) “I can’t go back to Osaka, but I will give you tuna!”  Walu smiled and thought, “I love tuna!” , but Sakana flipped his tail and said, (in Japanese)  which means, “Hey! Wait a minute!  I like tuna too!”
